Forming & Fabrication

5052 is often selected for parts that require bending, drawing, forming, and welding. H32 provides a practical balance between strength and formability for fabricated sheet-metal parts, while O temper is used where more extensive forming is required.

The alloy can also produce a consistent appearance after anodizing, making it suitable for fabricated components where the finished surface remains visible. Laser-cut blanks and custom-sized pieces can be supplied for further bending, welding, or machining.

5052 Aluminum Plate FAQ

Answers to common questions about 5052 aluminum plate applications, tempers, sizes, thicknesses, and processing.

What is 5052 aluminum plate used for?

5052 aluminum plate is commonly used for sheet metal parts, fuel tanks, marine components, electrical enclosures, and welded assemblies. It is valued for its balance of formability, weldability, and corrosion resistance.

What is the difference between 5052-H32 and 5052-O aluminum plate?

5052-H32 is strain-hardened and stabilized, offering higher strength while retaining good formability for bending and fabrication. 5052-O is fully annealed and softer, making it better suited for deep drawing and more demanding forming operations.

What thicknesses and sizes of 5052 aluminum plate are available?

We supply 5052 aluminum sheet and plate from 0.5 mm to 100 mm, depending on temper and specifications. Standard sheet sizes include 4′ × 8′ (1219 × 2438 mm), 5′ × 10′ (1524 × 3048 mm), and 1500 × 3000 mm, with custom cut-to-size options available.

Do you supply 1/4 inch 5052-H32 aluminum plate?

Yes. 1/4 inch 5052 aluminum plate has a nominal thickness of 6.35 mm and is commonly supplied in H32 temper. Full sheets and precision cut-to-size pieces are available according to your project requirements.

Is 3/16 inch 5052 aluminum plate available?

Yes. 3/16 inch 5052 aluminum plate has a nominal thickness of 4.76 mm and is commonly supplied in H32 temper. It is used for fabricated panels, truck components, tanks, and formed brackets.

Can 5052 aluminum plate be laser cut, bent, welded, or anodized?

Yes. 5052 aluminum plate can be processed by laser cutting, shearing, CNC punching, bending, and TIG/MIG welding. For finishing, it is suitable for anodizing, powder coating, and painting.
