ASTM A36 hot rolled carbon steel plate is the most widely used general-purpose carbon structural steel in the ASTM system. Produced to ASTM A36/A36M and supplied in the hot-rolled condition, it offers a minimum yield strength of 250 MPa, a tensile strength of 400–550 MPa and a minimum elongation of 20% — a balance of strength, ductility and weldability that has made it the default choice for structural and general fabrication work worldwide. With a maximum carbon content of 0.25–0.29% depending on thickness, A36 is a mild low-carbon steel: it can be welded with conventional processes without preheating, and is easily cut, punched, drilled, bent and machined. Typical applications include building and industrial structures, bridges and infrastructure, machinery bases and welded frames, storage tanks and silos, transmission towers, platforms and walkways. A36 is an approximate equivalent of Q235B, S235JR, SS400 and St37-2. Plates are available cut to size with drilling, bending, bevelling, shot blasting and coating services, and every lot is supplied with a mill test report.

ASTM A36 steel plates are supplied in strapped bundles secured with steel strips, with edges protected and the bundle wrapped in waterproof paper or plastic film for seaworthy export. Cut-to-size parts are palletized, strapped and crated where required. Every bundle is tagged with grade, size, heat number and quantity. Plates ship in 20GP / 40GP containers or as LCL cargo, and each lot is accompanied by a Mill Test Report.
