Prepainted galvanized steel (PPGI) coil is made by roller-coating an organic paint system onto hot-dip zinc-coated, cold-rolled steel. Zinc coating mass runs from Z30 to Z275 g/m²; the film combines a primer with a 15–25 μm topcoat and 5–10 μm backcoat, cured in a continuous baking oven rather than air-dried. Thickness ranges from 0.12 to 2.0 mm.

Formability is the main performance advantage. Because the paint is cured on a passivated zinc surface, the film stretches with the steel instead of separating: cross-hatch adhesion measures 100/100, and 0T–2T bending, profiling and impact leave no cracking, flaking or peeling. Roll-forming, slitting and bending cause no edge damage or die contamination.

Corrosion resistance is the second. The zinc layer acts as a sacrificial anode and protects cut edges, while the paint film blocks moisture and ultraviolet light. Neutral salt spray resistance reaches 500 hours or more; pencil hardness of 2H or above resists handling and stacking scratches.

Used for roofing and wall cladding, sandwich panels, appliance housings and garage doors, the coil forms directly into finished panels with no post-painting step. Installed panels retain their colour and gloss, so no repainting cycle is needed over the service life.

Key Features

    1. Superior Anti-Corrosion: Uniform zinc coating on both faces, resists rust, moisture and salt fog for long outdoor service life.
    2. High Mechanical Strength: DX51D to S550GD substrate covering commercial and structural grades for load-bearing panels and profiles.
    3. Good Workability: Paint film flexes with the steel – bends, profiles and slits without cracking or peeling.
    4. Full Coating Coverage: Both faces and cut edges stay protected across the full coil width, with no bare spots.
    5. Custom Colour & Processing: PE, SMP, HDP and PVDF resin systems, RAL colours matched to sample, cut to length on request.
    6. Certified Quality: Meets EN 10169, ASTM A755, JIS G3312 and GB/T 12754; MTC and third-party inspection available.

Applications

Prepainted galvanized steel coil carries a hot-dip zinc coating and a coil-coated organic film on the same cold-rolled substrate; corrosion protection and the finished surface are produced in one continuous pass. Roll-forming and slitting convert it into roofing and wall cladding, PU and PIR sandwich panels, sectional overhead doors, ceiling panels and grids, appliance housings, HVAC ducting, light-steel framing, cold-store panels and container liners. All are supplied pre-finished, so no painting step follows forming.

FAQ

FAQ

1. Can 0.12–0.3 mm coil be supplied in soft temper?

Thin gauges in this range are normally full hard, with high yield strength and limited elongation. Soft commercial-quality thin gauge is available on request — specify the forming method when ordering, because full hard and soft coil are not interchangeable on the same roll-forming line.

2. Which paint system suits outdoor exposure?

PE covers general roofing and cladding; SMP and HDP improve colour and gloss retention in high-UV regions; PVDF is specified for coastal, industrial and humid sites with continuous salt or chemical exposure.

3. Can the colour be matched to a RAL code or a physical sample?

Both. RAL Classic shades can be produced directly, and coil can be matched to a supplied sample. The reference panel is retained for comparison, and the colour difference against the approved reference is held within the agreed limit.

4. Will the paint film crack during bending or roll-forming?

Not when the grade is specified correctly. Film adhesion is checked by cross-hatch and T-bend tests, and commercial and structural grades bend through 0T–2T without cracking or peeling. Full hard thin gauge has a tighter bend limit and should be checked against the profile radius.

5. What coil sizes and packing are used for export?

Inner diameter 508 mm or 610 mm, coil weight 3–8 MT, eye to sky or eye to wall. Each coil is wrapped in PVC protective film and anti-rust paper, fitted with inner and outer steel sleeves, strapped, and loaded on wooden pallets in seaworthy packing.
