Equal steel angle bar, also referred to as equal leg angle, angle iron or L-shape structural steel, is hot‑rolled low carbon structural steel with two legs of the same width. It is one of the most widely used structural profiles for civil engineering, steel construction and industrial support systems. We stock and produce three globally popular grades to satisfy different regional specification requirements for international tender and EPC projects: ASTM A36 (American standard), S235JR (EN 10025 European standard), and Q235B (GB/T 700 Chinese standard).
Grade Introduction
- ASTM A36: Widely recognized standard in Middle East, Southeast Asia and American projects. Minimum yield strength 250 MPa, tensile strength 400–550 MPa. Good ductility, easy for welding, punching, cutting and bending. No mandatory impact test by default, suitable for general outdoor and indoor structural applications.
- S235JR: EN 10025‑2 non‑alloy structural steel. JR means room temperature (20℃) Charpy V‑notch impact requirement. Stable mechanical performance, preferred by European clients and international contractors following EU specifications.
- Q235B: Chinese national standard carbon structural steel, with 20℃ impact test. Cost‑effective and consistent quality, widely accepted by global traders and construction projects. Minimum yield strength 235MPa.
All three grades feature excellent weldability, formability and mechanical stability. They can be easily processed on site, including cutting, drilling, punching, welding, bending and machining without complicated heat treatment.

Steel structure bracing, building load-bearing frames, solar panel mounting brackets, power transmission and communication towers, guardrail & fence frames, warehouse racking, machinery base supports, conveyor frames, auxiliary bridge components, container accessories, workshop steel frames and prefab house structures.

FAQ
Q1: What is the difference between A36, S235JR and Q235B equal angle steel?
A: 1. ASTM A36: American standard, min yield strength 250MPa, widely used for Middle East and international EPC projects, no mandatory impact test by default.
2. S235JR (EN10025): European standard, JR stands for 20℃ Charpy V-notch impact test, popular for EU and international tender projects.
3. Q235B (GB/T700): Chinese standard, 20℃ impact test required, cost-effective and stable supply for global construction. All three grades have good weldability for structural use.
Q2: What sizes of equal angle bar can you supply?
A: We supply equal leg angle from 20×20mm up to 200×200mm, thickness 3mm–24mm. Standard lengths are 6m,9m,12m. Custom fixed length, mitre cutting and punching service are available.
Q3: Can you provide hot dipped galvanized equal angle steel? What is the zinc coating thickness?
A: Yes. We offer both black hot rolled and HDG galvanized angle bars. Regular zinc coating is 60–85μm. Custom zinc thickness is acceptable for coastal anti-corrosion projects.
Q4: What documents will you provide with the shipment?
A: We provide official MTC (Material Test Certificate) for each heat batch. SGS/BV third-party inspection can be arranged before shipment if required by your project. Commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading will also be supplied.
Q5: What are your payment terms and trade terms?
A: We support FOB, CFR, CIF. Common payment terms: TT (30% deposit, balance against copy of BL). LC is negotiable for large orders.
Q6: Can equal angle steel be welded directly on site?
A: Yes. A36, S235JR and Q235B are low carbon structural steel with excellent weldability. No special preheating is needed under normal construction conditions.
Q7: How are the angle bars packed for sea shipment?
A: Bundled with steel strapping. Each bundle will have shipping marks showing grade, size, weight and heat number. It is suitable for 20GP /40HQ container loading.
Q8: What is your lead time?
A: For standard sizes, lead time is normally 7–15 working days. For large bulk orders or galvanized items, 15–25 working days, subject to stock and production schedule.
